Do you have leadership qualities? Do you believe you can add value to the life of students? I have seen lots of students like you. So many students who have visions and ideas on how to make life better for other students. If you will love to act on your visions and ideas by representing the students, these tips will be useful to you:
- Start on time: One mistake most students make is to wake up one morning probably a month before the sales of form for leadership positions and declare their interest to attain a particular position. This may not really work out positively. I will advise that you start by making preparations on time. If possible, from your first year in school, let people know you by taking up leadership roles in your department. If you must be voted for, you must add value by rendering services.
- Be loyal: Another great way to achieve this feat is by being loyal to those ahead of you. Being loyal means being a good follower. Attend meetings, bring forth suggestions, be a good teammate, support the vision of others that will be beneficial to students. by doing this, you are creating a good image for yourself and impacting/ giving value to your fellow students.
- Have good grades: It is important to have good grades even as you are aspiring to lead other students. Most leadership positions require a minimum of 2.5CGPA or even 3.0CGPA on a scale of 5.0. A poor grade automatically disqualifies you from participating in the electoral process.
- Have a good record: Leading other students is a very important position. You should have a good record and must not engage in social vices. Be a responsible and hardworking student for only then will you be able to gain trust from your fellow students.
- Reach out and connect: Being elected means that you will be voted for. It is imperative that you connect with your fellow students starting from those in your department, faculty, hostel/lodge, church etc. If you are known for being a good student, it will be easier for your friends/fans to vote for you at the appointed time.
