If you will need to purchase an off-the-shelf knee brace, it is important to take measurement of your knee to know the brace that is right for you. Here’s some tips to help you:
- Use the tape rule: When measuring, be sure to use a flexible tape rule to measure the circumference of your leg. Especially measuring tapes used for sewing.
- Take the circumference of the knee: Place the meter(tape) rule at the middle of the knee cap and wrap the tape around your knee. Write down your measurement.
- Measure the circumference of your leg and thigh: Place the meter(tape) rule about 15cm from your knee cap and mark the spots – 15cm above the knee cap and 15cm below the knee cap. Then take the circumference of this marked areas and write them down.
- Check for corresponding size on the pack of the knee brace and let an Orthotist help you wear it.
